Childhood Memories

It was an extremely busy weekend.  We had our monthly stamping get together.  Waffles for breakfast courtesy of Claudia.  Kim brought fruit toppings (yummy).  We had a great visit.

Then I was off to a pencil class.  I have tons of art media around the house & I dont really know how to use it all so I decided to take a class to expand my knowledge & it really did help.  Thanks to Donna @The Craft Retreat for sharing your knowledge.

As I took photos of my 3 works of art I remembered when my Mom took her first art class 42 years ago.  My sister & I were little (under 5), we lived in a little town & my Mom had to travel 25 miles to get to the class.  I remember my Dad telling us "no matter what she brings home tell her it's beautiful".  My Mom was so excited when she got home.  She couldn't wait to show us the Apple & Orange she had drawn.  I kept thinking to myself it's beautiful????? It really was quite awesome.  I can't for the life draw an apple or an orange, so I appreciate even today someone's work of art for it is truly a talent. I still have her first two still lifes hanging in my laundry room.  She was a fantastic artist.
So with a huge smile on my face I hope you too think my drawings from my pencil class are beautiful.

Now on to cards.  I suck at making flowers, much easier to buy them, but I do keep trying.  CTMH has a little tutorial on how to make a flower out of hearts so I gave it a try...it's the one on the right (smile).
I hope you give it a shot too.
I took a large Zot Dot & tore the paper placed 7 hearts folded in half on the Zot, then I peeled it off the paper & placed it on the card.  I put small Zot dots under the petels.  Placed a CTMH diamond button in the middle.

Glitter & foam squares

Splitcoast Stamps had this tutorial on a few weeks ago, so I had to give it a try....I took one side of the square removed the protective paper & dipped it in the glitter then placed it on the card.  I actually did 4 squares at a time just incase I liked the outcome & could make 4 cards instead of just one.

Maple Leaves

The Fall CTMH catalog is out & I fell in love with a card on page 85.  Instead of buying the new stamp set Bountiful Season A1130 I made my own version using Harvest Home C1419 & Harvest Happiness.  I hope you like the end result.

Viva Decor Paper-Pen & Glass Effect Gel

I had to try a new product this week.  Actually all my card group is trying this product but they made me be the guinea pig.  The verdict is in I LOVE THEM!  They make great "pearls".  Here are 5 cards that I used as the test bed.  The copper pearls was the first card.  I actually tapped the underside & it flattened out the pearls.  I did not do it on the rest of them.  I have to say if you hold the bottle at a slight angle you get a perfect pearl with no nipple.

Opal 103

Copper 903

Cream 102
By the time I started the first card & got to the 5th card, the first one was already dry.  I didnt think to time the drying process, but it was very quick, especially here in AZ where its 103+

Annette

I have a wonderful coworker who the the impeccable taste in clothes.  She is the best dressed at work all the time.  Besides being a fashion diva she's a wonderfully nice lady. She has an adorably decorated cubicle with frames, keys and other decorations.  It makes her happy.  Last Friday she had on the most striking orange tank top and matching shoes.  Her outfit inspired this box.  So I made her a tissue box for her work cubicle.  Thanks for the inspiration Annette.

Made with:
Paper: DCWV paper stacks
Tools: Spellbinders Parisian Accents, Picot Edge Circles, Tear Drop Circles
Xyron Sticker Maker & ATG Tape gun.  Some of the adhesive stayed on from the sticker maker, which made to perfect excuse to sprinkle some glitter on it & sparkle it up for her.

Glitter

Tulips with Sparkle & Sprinkle Glitter

Tulips

Add caption

Grapes

It all started with this card - Joyce Alenskis was teaching me how to use Art Institute Glitter on cards & here is my first creation.  I then had to come home & put some of my glitter to use as well.  I think she's created a monster.

MojoMonday 249

I rarely get to make a card on Mon Nights, so I took advantage tonight & made this card from the MojoMonday sketch today.  My Uncle loves to camp, so I hope he'll enjoy this little birthday wish.
Paper is DCWV Shimmer, CTMH Colonial White & Olive Green.  CTMH ink, stamps & pearls.  Caption stamp is unknown, I think it's a Darci stamp.

Mojo Monday MOJO247

Mojo Monday's  sketch was very close to Sparkle & Sprinkle, so I made two cards with their sketch too using the same products for the Sparkle & Sprinkle sketch. The base card is from Paper Source.

Sparkle & Sprinkle July Challenge SNSSC09

This is for their sketch : http://sparklensprinkle.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/snssc09.jpg

Unfortunately I do not have enough Sparkle and Sprinkle products to use just their products, so this is a combo card. CTMH Die-Cut Cards & envelopes, CTMH paper, S&S MIdnight Madness embossing powder & stamp.  Zva Creation Pearls with Stazon Black ink rubbed on them.  Good ole $1 store doilley.  The purple card has CTMH Heirloom assortment embellishments.
